The political thought of Abū Naṣr Fārābī constitutes one of the most comprehensive philosophical systems in the Islamic tradition, in which politics, law, and governance are articulated within a teleological framework. This study examines whether it is possible to speak of a “legal system” in Fārābī’s works and, if so, what foundations and structure such a system possesses and how it is connected to the virtuous government. A descriptive-analytical study of Fārābī’s original works shows that, although he does not employ the term “legal system,” his theory contains all the essential components of a legal framework. It includes “natural rights” as the rational foundation of law, “revelation and divine traditions” as the source of legislation, and “ultimate felicity” as the goal of the legal order. From this perspective, law is not merely an instrument of administration; rather, it serves as a means of moral guidance and the intellectual advancement of society. Furthermore, the legitimacy of government rests upon wisdom and justice, while the realization of the virtuous city (al-madīna al-fāḍila) is not possible without the participation and education of its citizens. Accordingly, it is possible to speak of the “geometry of virtuous governance.”
