Abstract
The idea of the soul's perfection in barzakh (intermediate realm) faces two major objections: "the principle of opposition in simple entities" and "the principle of occurrence." Critics argue that the soul, as an immaterial and simple entity, cannot evolve or transform after separating from the body because this would imply it has both a primary matter and a formal part, contradicting the soul’s simplicity and immateriality. Secondly, it would violate the well-known rational principle that "every occurrence (hādith) is preceded by potentiality and matter." In this paper, the authors adopt a descriptive-analytical approach to logically analyze these two key objections against the perfection of the soul in barzakh. This study then presents the most comprehensive solutions – derived and in some cases innovative – to demonstrate and affirm perfection in barzakh.
