Abstract

As one of the most important issues pertaining to divine ontology and related to understanding human being as a divine manifestation equipped with epistemic tools, the domain of human being's knowledge of Allah has [always] been the focus of theistic philosophers' attention. Zinoozi, the sage, has meticulously studied the problem from a philosophical point of view. He has tried to give a correct interpretation of some of the Quranic verses and traditions relevant to this issue. Dividing each one of the two branches of knowledge (knowledge by acquisition and knowledge by presence) into knowledge of the essence and knowledge of the appearance, he studies their application with Allah. According to him, it is impossible to apply knowledge of the essence to Allah, whether it belongs to knowledge by acquisition or to knowledge by presence. However the application to Allah of knowledge of the appearance belonging to anyone of the two said branches of knowledge is quite possible
