Abstract

In his On the Way of the Truthful Ones, a commentary on Mulla Sadra's Four Journeys, Agha Ali Hakim Zinoozi explains the argument of the truthful ones in two ways. The first being his own contribution, considers the reality of existence as unconditioned, conditioned as absolute, immaterial or pure. Here he argues from the fact that there is no origin for the existence, taking into account the above-mentioned four considerations. The present study assesses his argument from the viewpoint of its premises, its explanation, its being the argument of the truthful ones and the challenge such an argument faces. As to his second explanation, it is somewhat similar to that of Mulla Sadra. Despite having certain differences, his argument has something in common with Mulla Sadra and Sabzawari's argument. His first account of the argument is though questionable, it can be presented in a way that can be conclusive
