So, it is quite important to perfectly know the nature and characteristics of practical wisdom. One way of knowing different disciplines of science and their characteristics is to consider the system of classification and its criteria. Alfarabius is among those philosophers who have dealt with practical wisdom in much detail. In Alfarabius’ view, the consideration of the role of practical wisdom in the classification of sciences and its particular characteristics in contrast to general characteristics of philosophy help propose an inclusive and exclusive definition of it. Accordingly, practical wisdom is a speculative -deductive and demonstrative- discipline of knowledge dealing with issues of man’s free will in so far as it leads man to happiness or eternal affliction. حکمت عملی به‌عنوان یکی از اقسام فلسفه مطلق، کارکردهای مهمی در کنش‌ها و حیات صحیح فردی و اجتماعی انسان و پایه‌ریزی نظام حکومتی و تمدن اسلامی دارد. ‌ازاین‌رو شناخت کامل نسبت به چیستی و ویژگی‌های حکمت عملی اهمیت به‌سزایی دارد. یکی از راه‌های شناخت علوم و ویژگی‌های آنها، توجه به نظام طبقه‌بندی علوم و ملاک‌های آن است. فارابی از جمله فیلسوفانی است که بسیار گسترده به حکمت عملی پرداخته است. از نگاه فارابی، توجه به جایگاه حکمت عملی در طبقه‌بندی علوم و در نظر گرفتن ویژگی‌های کلی فلسفه به‌مثابه جنس حکمت عملی به همراه ویژگی‌های اختصاصی حکمت عملی، می‌تواند در ارائه تعریفی جامع و مانع از آن راهگشا باشد. براین‌اساس حکمت عملی علمی نظری - به معنای قیاسی- و برهانی است که در مورد امور وابسته به اراده انسان ازآن‌جهت که انسان را به سعادت یا شقاوت می‌رساند بحث می‌کند. https://fhi.hekmateislami.com/article_118554_315ac7d6bf5af0b52796e013ff8102d9.pdf
