Moral conscience, as a distinctive feature of the human soul, has not generally been treated among Islamic thinkers as a proof (burhān) for the cognition and establishment of God. However, within the writings of Mohammad Taqi Jafari there are discussions that can be employed to highlight this feature of the human soul and to explain how it may function as a demonstrative basis. Through a descriptive and analytical examination of Allamah Jafari’s thought, moral conscience is presented as a reliable inner guide, a compelling force towards virtuous actions, a reproach against wrongdoing, a preparation for presential knowledge of God, a contributor to the refinement and perfection of the soul, an unfolder of sacred emotions and sentiments, a guide directing attention to the moral attributes of God, a divine messenger within the human being, a reflection of divine attributes, and a manifestion of divine perfection. When the human self attends to the activities of moral conscience and removes the obstacles to its flourishing, it becomes one of the most effective means that guides man toward truth and an presential awareness of God. Accordingly, moral conscience is the most fundamental and trustworthy inner factor for the intuitive apprehension and experiential proof of God - a God who is essentially characterized by the highest moral attributes and who encompasses all human souls.
